We love it for its inventive selection of dishes – like the shrimp kong baga, which comes with a beef patty, deep fried shrimp, island-style dressing and melted cheese, and the Szechuan chicken burger, which features togarashi seasoning, lashings of kewpie mayo and pickles.

Another of our top picks on the shortlist is Soho. Its standout signature is the bacon butter burger, a real beast of a bun stuffed with crisp pancetta, molten American cheese and burnt butter mayo. Last year, Burger & Beyond received two awards – one for ‘outstanding achievement’ and one for ‘excellence’.

Hoping to get the top prize in the London category for the second year in a row is , which serves up smash burgers in Aldgate and Barking. Other joints in the running are GOAT Burger in Knightsbridge, in Leadenhall Market and Tooting Market, in Tottenham and , which has several branches across the capital.
