The following article contains spoilers for ‘The Celebrity Traitors’ episode nine.

The penultimate episode of the second season of aired last night and… we’re still not entirely sure what we just watched. Ahead of the finale, here are the 48 burning questions we’ve been left with.

  1. What just happened?
  2. Why did James Acaster not even attempt to defend himself?
  3. Was Michael Sheen’s pointing finger just powerful?
  4. His theory about the last person leaving the library being responsible wasn’t even correct?!
  5. Why would you just give yourself up?
  6. Isn’t that, like, against the traitors’ code of ethics or whatever?
  7. James was acting like he was forced to be a traitor, but was he?
  8. He had to pitch for it just like Amol Rajan did, so if he really didn’t want to be a traitor, he should have just said so then?
  9. I get that he didn’t want to go home so early in the game, but, sorry, you’ve just broken the game and ruined it for everyone else?
  10. So, Michael (and maybe also James Blunt) is now basically a confirmed faithful in the eyes of everyone?
  11. Which makes the game and the final a lot less interesting?
  12. And they won’t even kill Michael overnight will they, because Maya thinks that murder would point back to her?
  13. Part of me thinks they should just bite the bullet and kill off Michael anyway?
  14. It’s just far too dangerous to keep him in the game?
  15. Sorry, but it kind of feels like the producers have conspired to keep Michael in the game?
  16. When they murdered Sharon that made no sense?
  17. It felt like they’d wanted to kill Michael but the producers said no?
  18. Is this game rigged?
  19. So, if Michael can’t be killed, who will it be?
  20. Romesh Ranganathan feels like a possibility?
  21. Or could they kill James Blunt, Michael’s sidekick?
  22. They’ll keep Leigh-Anne Pinnock in the game because Michael “confirmed faithful” Sheen also has it out for her and won’t stop until she’s been banished, too?
  23. Will they go for Maya next, and then Leigh-Anne after that?
  24. So the final fire pit could be Michael, Sebastian Croft and King Kenny?
  25. Would they then suspect Kenny?
  26. Or would he then win solo?
  27. Michael already sort of suspects Kenny, doesn’t he?
  28. James Acaster thinks he’s been loyal to his fellow traitors, but he’s put them in an impossible position?
  29. There’s no way Maya can come back from this right?
  30. Can’t deny that Michael is good at this, but my God, can he tone the whole Sherlock thing down a bit, please?
  31. Yes, we heard you the first time, Michael, you don’t have to keep repeating how you realised it was James Acaster?
  32. Why was Michael also saying all those weird canned lines at the end of the night? (“Under a Scottish sky…)
  33. Am I the only who found this fire pit scene really weird?
  34. Anyone else kinda shipping Maya and Michael? The tension when they’re left alone…
  35. Back to the start of this episode – why did Kenny switch his vote from Sharon to Joanne?
  36. He said it was to get Sharon’s trust, but that didn’t really make sense?
  37. And why didn’t other people think that was suspicious?
  38. Michael was happy to take the credit, but wasn’t it actually James Blunt who led him to James Acaster?
  39. Was anyone else weirdly moved by Sebastian and Romesh’s friendship?
  40. That mission was easy enough but you’d think they’d have put a singer on the running team, right?
  41. Why did the previous contestants’ voices sound so AI?
  42. How can they make the missions less boring?
  43. Maya handled the grilling from Michael in the kitchen well but she surely should have had a better defence than: “I’ve never done anything dodgy”?
  44. Who did James Acaster vote for when he was being voted off, himself?
  45. Once they knew James Acaster was a traitor, couldn’t they have used their votes to banish Maya, and then banish James the next day when they no longer find out who’s a traitor or faithful?
  46. Or, again, were the producers like, absolutely not?
  47. Wait, was James Acaster’s very bright shirt to blame for making him suddenly more noticeable?
  48. What’s going to happen tonight?!
