Having worked as a shopping editor for more years than I care to admit, I’ve witnessed the metamorphosis of H&M Studio – from its very first drop in 2013, presented as a runway show at Paris Fashion Week, to its current form as a sellout bi-annual edit lauded for its high-quality materials and directional designs.

In my experience, the autumn/winter collections are always the strongest, as the offshoot typically excels in heavy-duty knitwear, structured tailoring and lust-worthy staples that stand the test of time. This is certainly the case for the 2026 edit, which drops today. And while we’ve found ourselves eyeing every item in the 40-piece collection, as always, we recommend taking a more curated approach.
It’s simple: only invest in pieces that you genuinely love and will continue to love in 10 years’s time. Plus, it’s always worth reminding yourself of the pieces that are already sat in your wardrobe. Take it from someone who has learnt the hard way that no one needs four different grey blazers – yes, even if you “swear they serve different purposes”. I know how your mind works.

The tailored winter coat
While the quiet luxury movement might have supercharged the status of the tailored wool coat, I’ve still found it to be one of the most consistent styles in my wardrobe over the last decade. The charcoal-grey iteration in H&M Studio’s drop is a great alternative to classic black.
The versatile base-layer
When the mercury drops, I find myself endlessly reliant on long-sleeved tops, with any made from merino wool offering that extra level of warmth. This cream layered style will look great tucked into tailored trousers, paired with midi-skirts and styled with slouchy jeans. The off-white shade will also look great with autumnal browns, greys and beiges.
The tailored trousers
I hardly need to tell you that a great pair of tailored trousers is a staple that will look great in any season and at any age. I like how this Studio pair is slouchy but not too oversized (more extreme silhouettes can tend to age an item of clothing) in a way that recalls YSL’s classic Le Smoking suit.
The crew-neck knit
The V-neck knit has been experiencing a comeback this season, but, personally, I always return to the crew-neck. The inside-out seam details on this Studio cardigan gives the traditional silhouette a point of interest without feeling excessively trend led. Make like Alexa Chung and pair with straight-leg jeans, trench coat and ballet pumps this autumn.
The structured blazer
Fashion editors love a blazer, and when you consider its ability to instantly confer polish on any outfit, it makes sense. Whether you wear it as a full suit with matching trousers or throw it together with a white T-shirt and jeans (a universally flattering smart-casual pairing), this is one investment you won’t regret making.
