The following article contains spoilers for The Social Reckoning.

is – and I will fight anyone who contests this – one of the best films of the 21st century; an eerily prescient glimpse at the founding of Facebook and the total technological upheaval of our lives as we knew it, with a note-perfect Jesse Eisenberg as Mark Zuckerberg, penned by a razor-sharp Aaron Sorkin, directed by a never-better David Fincher and with an incredible techno score by Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross. It won three Oscars, made big stars of its cast – Andrew Garfield, Max Minghella, Rooney Mara and Dakota Johnson, in her first on-screen part as an adult – and remains as rewatchable as ever.

So, when it emerged that Sorkin would be returning, 16 years on, to both write and helm a sequel, , with a formidable line-up which includes recent Oscar winner Mikey Madison, industry darling Jeremy Allen White, and none other than Jeremy Strong as an all-grown-up Zuckerberg, I was floored. Focusing on “The Facebook Files”, a 2021 data leak by former Facebook employee-turned-whistleblower Frances Haugen to ’s investigative reporter Jeff Horwitz, it tells the story of the pair’s battle to hold Zuckerberg’s all-powerful empire to account. Naturally, I was first in line to see the film when it finally landed in cinemas, and left with an awful lot of questions. These are the 54 which will continue to haunt me.
