8 Dress Trends You Can Rely On This Party Season
Isn’t it rather early to be thinking about the festive season? In our eyes, you can never start the preparations too soon – especially when it comes to finding the perfect Christmas party dress. Lock yours in now and, as December draws near, you can fully concentrate on the season of soirées, champagne toasts, and trying not to embarrass yourself in front of your colleagues.
Finding the right dress to navigate the festive period is no easy feat, as you’ll want something that will carry you from the office party to Christmas Eve cocktails, and on to New Year’s Eve and beyond. Maybe you’re lured in by a flash of red, a touch of velvet, or a hit of glitter. Perhaps you’re loyal to a little black dress or partial to lace detailing.

This year’s party dress trends are more eclectic than usual – satin slips in jewel tones introduce some pops of colour; shimmering creations from brands like Gucci and Rotate will light up the dance floor, while floral jacquard, fringed and beaded styles bring a touch of 1920s glamour. For black dress devotees, look to Shushu/Tong, Staud and Sandro for elegant cuts. After all, a simple black dress is a blank canvas for accessorising and your invitation to pile on as many statement pieces as possible.
“For me, festive dressing is all about having fun. You can bring in new textures, mix metals or rent statement pieces that instantly transform your look,” says Eshita Kabra-Davies, founder of fashion rental app By Rotation. “We’re seeing a lot of demand for brands that play with modern glamour – 16Arlington and The Vampire’s Wife are classics for this season. Rotate and Clio Peppiatt are also super popular at this time of year; they’re perfect if you want sparkly, playful looks that photograph beautifully,” she adds.
