Bambi Nails Are The New Manicure Trend To Fawn Over

Anyone who has witnessed the dappled fawns at Clissold Park will understand fashion’s fondness for deer print. Burberry has dabbled in the pattern over the years; last year, the Gap X Sandy Liang fuzzy half-zip took the internet by storm, and it’s the star of Sofia Richie Grange’s newly launched brand, SRG Atelier. More subtle than zebra and less predictable than leopard, it’s perhaps little wonder that the Bambi-inspired look has now made its way onto Londoners’ nails.

“There’s something particularly appealing about it for autumn – the warm, caramel and chocolate tones feel seasonal while the print itself has a nostalgic, almost ’70s quality. On the nails, it feels playful but still incredibly chic,” says session manicurist Ami Streets. The wearable colours and fluid pattern also make the look particularly versatile, working either as a full set or as on an accent nail.

“I think it looks particularly cool on either a short, clean or oval nail shape with organic markings or even as a French tip if you want something more subtle,” suggests Streets. Her favourite way to achieve the look? “Begin with a sheer nude or warm beige base. Once dry, use a fine nail-art brush or dotting tool to create irregular patches in a soft cream to your preference,” she says. “For those more experienced with nail art, creating an ombre or two-toned background in complementary caramel or tan shades really adds dimension and elevates the look.” The key lies in avoiding a uniform pattern. “The imperfect, organic finish is what gives Bambi print its appeal,” Streets continues. Seal the look with a high-shine top coat for a glossy finish.
