Dakota Johnson was back – in black – at Vogue World: Milano.

The movie star arrived at the runway show spectacle wearing witchy layers of transparent lace and chiffon from Valentino’s fall 2026 collection, titled “Interferenze” and designed by her good friend Alessandro Michele. The look consisted of a velvet jacket, a sculpted basque skirt with a lace-trimmed underlayer of chiffon, and a stretch-lace bodysuit with a plunging neckline.
It marks a dramatic departure from last year’s look, which was also Valentino: a soft pink, Art Deco-inspired column gown with delicate crystal floral embroideries and a tulle ruff at the neck. While Vogue World: Hollywood was all about the Golden Age starlet, with vibes appropriate for the Paramount Studios backlot, Milano’s look revels in understated, timeless glamour, in total step with a show dedicated to Italian craft.
For Johnson’s US cover story, Michele weighed in on his friend. “She is family,” he told writer Alessandra Codhina. “She has this gift in the way she looks at you, the way she moves, the way she approaches a thing. She’s the most natural person I have met in this business.” He added that he considers her a “really brave artist,” and “always open, and if she believes in you, she’s really easy.”
Johnson returns the love. “As a designer, he has such singular taste,” the actress told Christian Allaire last year. Indeed, she has become something of a muse to the designer over the years. “He has a robust knowledge of art, history, film and fashion throughout the ages. Every single collection is infused with art and history – yet at the same time, it’s modern and fresh.”
“As a friend, I feel like he and I have known each other in lives before this one,” she continued. “We have such a magical, deep friendship and love for each other, and a mutual respect and admiration for each other’s minds that I just am so grateful for.”
