A bona-fide hair chameleon as well as an actor, Emma Mackey is no stranger to a transformation. fans will remember her as the angsty Maeve Wiley, with visible roots, bleach-blonde lengths and faded pink ends. IRL, Mackey’s hair is a little more polished – especially these days.
We’ve seen her with a glossy brunette lob, and until very recently, a caramel-blonde bob. Stepping out in Paris this week, however, she debuted yet another new cut and colour – and it might just be her best yet.

At Chloé’s spring/summer 2027 show, Mackey unveiled an updated take on her signature bob, keeping the same shoulder-skimming length but adding some Birkin bangs – the accidentally perfect fringe synonymous with Jane Birkin. Piecey and a little wispy, it’s not quite a full fringe, nor is it swooping curtain bangs, rather, it occupies a flattering space somewhere in between.
It was Mackey’s new colour, though, that really caught our eye. Straddling the line between muted copper and teddy-bear brunette, it stood out against her golden, fluffy cropped coat – and it has autumn written all over it.

A longtime lover of blonde, Mackey is proof that going a little darker can make the hair appear instantly healthier – and we’d wager a professional gloss had something to do with her expensive-looking shine. Of course, a qualified colourist is your best bet for a transformation like Mackey’s, but if you want to emulate the look, an at-home hair gloss is a low-effort, semi-permanent way to experiment with colour while enhancing shine at the same time.
