“I love being from and dressing like I live in London, but Paris is the most stylish place in the world. There is a reverence for clothes here, in a city where textiles are taken as seriously as urban planning, an understanding that good self-presentation is akin to being well-read,” ’s Daniel Rogers wrote in this season’s round-up of the best street style in the City of Light.
Indeed, in Paris, it’s not merely the fashion folk who flock to Paris Fashion Week who look stylish; civilians, too, have a flair for getting dressed. Fashion Week, of course, is when photographers are on standby to capture the city’s best-dressed visitors and locals in their best light – and the rather surprisingly balmy October weather over the past week certainly helped.

As with New York, London and Milan, now that the show proceedings are just about over, the Vogue Shopping team has been on standby itself, rigorously refreshing the street-style galleries to spot any emerging Paris Fashion Week street-style trends. And while some looks were undoubtedly designed with the photographer in mind, there were plenty of genuinely wearable ideas to take away, too.
As has been the case for the past year, since Matthieu Blazy took the helm at Chanel, the house was a major talking point in Paris. On the streets, the style set pledged their allegiance to the beloved Parisian brand on home soil via accessories. We already know that when Blazy’s first collection dropped earlier this year, the fashion pack lined up outside the atelier to get their hands on the brand’s newly reimagined bags and shoes. This show season, those investment quilted bags and two-tone pumps certainly made the rounds.
Leather was a key part of the Parisian look, with polished leather skirts and glossy patent jackets among the major standouts, especially in distinctly autumnal shades like deep aubergine, fire-engine red, and wine-tinged burgundy. Instead of just head-to-toe black, this season’s versions brought a welcome hit of colour.
Meanwhile, skirts and trousers came in the form of balloon legs and lace-trimmed slips, both of which have survived another season of street styling. The former offered a voluminous alternative to the ubiquitous wide-leg trouser, while the latter brought a little lingerie dressing into the mix. Capri trousers, too, continued their comeback, worn with everything from polished flats to the aforementioned two-tone heels.
Jeans were a rarer sight than in London, where low-rise jeans prevailed, and Milan, where it was instead straight-leg, high-rise cuts that dominated. In Paris, denim felt more directional – patchworked, riveted and spliced down the side, offering a more interesting take on the everyday staple we all know and love.
