isn’t the only movie game in town this autumn, because MUBI has just announced its first ever film festival in London.
The film distributor, production house and streaming service is hosting MUBI FEST London, a three-day mini film fest, at from November 13-15.
On the programme on Friday, November 13 are screenings of actress-of-the-moment Sandra Hüller’s new period drama (5 stars – Time Out), with director Markus Schleinzer in attendance for a Q&A; followed by a 4k restoration screening of (2001), and a live podcast with the Evolution of Horror on ‘the horror of adolescence’. Look out, too, for a special 15th anniversary screening of 2011 neo-noir thriller .
Saturday, November 14 brings a preview screening of Andrey Zvyagintsev’s extraordinary new thriller ; Lukas Dhont’s World War 1 queer romance and a Q&A with its co-screenwriter Angelo Tijssens and lead actors Valentin Campagne and Emmanuel Macchia; Sophy Romvari's gorgeous family drama . The Mysterious Gaze of the Flamingo director Diego Céspedes will be there for a Q&A ahead of a screening of his queer Latin American fable.
Look out, too, for two strikingly diverse masterpieces: Park Chan-wook’s slow-burn period thriller and Horace Ové's pioneering Black British drama .
The final day of MUBI FEST brings a special Q&A screening of Andrew Haigh’s new film A Long Winter and an early showing of Paul Thomas Anderson’s new concert doc capturing Geese front man Cameron Winter’s performance at Carnegie Hall.
Sundance winner a documentary about the friction between humans and the animal kingdom, will also be followed by a filmmaker Q&A.
Tickets go on sale for the London edition to MUBI subscribers at 10am on Wednesday, September 30 before hitting general sale at 10am on Friday, October 2.
