You could argue that hybrid working means that every day is casual Friday now – even at HQ the uniform tends to be jeans-and-a-jumper. Florence Pugh has taken things a step further this week, promoting her latest film in an ensemble that raises the possibility of an all-new corporate dressing concept: wear your lingerie to work day.
The actor stepped out in an off-the-shoulder Chloé look while in New York for the press tour for East of Eden, Netflix’s sumptuous new adaptation of the John Steinbeck. The lingerie-adjacent teddy, complete with giant bow at the waist, is from every boho girl’s favourite brand’s spring/summer 2026 collection. Pugh paired her boudoir-ish lace with vertiginous Aquazzura heels, Bulgari bling and oval sunnies. It comes after a summer of frilly nightie dresses, with Alexa, Bella, Olivia and others all channelling the look on their holidays.
Pugh is firmly back in the limelight as East of Eden’s Cathy Ames, the tale’s irresistible, larger-than-life anti-heroine, and her press-tour wardrobe has been skirting around a more contemporary take on period dressing – albeit one replete with Cathy-friendly corsets and frilled.
Florence is, of course, no stranger to underwear as outerwear, but while the actor has long been partial to a bit of lingerie on the red carpet, this feels like a particularly convincing argument to, come Monday morning, ditch the tired tailoring for something a little more risqué.
