When it comes to fringes, Greta Lee is always on the moodboard. There was her micro fringe for the premiere in London, her edgy mullet at the 2024 Met Gala, or even the piece-y fringe of her cameo. Recently though Lee, who works with hairstylist Jenny Cho, has been straying from her signature: she attended the Dior show in Paris, and the Academy Museum Gala, with slicked-back hair tucked behind her ears.

Now though, the fringe is back and Birkin bangs – named for style icon Jane Birkin’s long feathery fringe – might just be the perfect match for Lee. “Autumn is a great time to consider [a fringe], particularly after a summer of sunshine, holidays and perhaps a little overdoing it with lightening services,” explains hairstylist Sarah Ethel. “If your ends are feeling tired or compromised, it’s the perfect opportunity to cut away those ends, bring some shape back into the haircut and add a fringe for a fresh new look.”
And, as we’ve come to expect from Greta, her fringe chimes perfectly with what hairstylists say is trending. “I keep coming back to that longer, wispier, almost ’70s inspired fringe, think Jane Birkin, soft and slightly undone rather than anything blunt or heavy,” hairstylist Samatha Cusick told . “It has that effortless quality that feels very current and very wearable and it works across so many different face shapes because it’s not trying to do too much.”
