In summer, Hailey Bieber shared that she had been on a “hair health journey.” She was leaning into her natural light brunette, letting her lengths grow, and generally resisting the urge to make any dramatic moves. Just in time for autumn, though, the Rhode beauty mogul seems to have decided her hair can handle a seasonal transformation.
One of Bieber’s go-to hairstylists, Irinel de León (also known for her work with Carey Mulligan and Kendall and Kylie Jenner), shared a look at Bieber’s freshly cut and coloured hair, now styled in long, sweeping layers with plenty of dimension and texture around the face. Several inches have been added since she last chopped her hair into the trending clavi-cut, with extension expert Priscilla Valles lending some extra length and fullness. The result is flippy and three-dimensional, with enough movement to keep the darker shade from feeling heavy.

And it is dark! Celebrity colourist Matt Rez took Bieber to the deepest chocolate brunette she has worn in more than a decade. For years, high-octane blonde was something of a Hailey signature – with the occasional dramatic detour, including an almost raven-dark brunette at the 2015 Met Gala – but as her style has evolved, so has her hair colour. More recently, she has experimented with caramel highlights, tonal brunettes and chestnut shades. This latest espresso-inflected brown feels like the natural next step: rich and glossy, and particularly well suited to the cooler months ahead.
Her glam, by Mary Phillips, leaned into the brown tones. Rhode Glazing Milk, of course, plus Phillips’s own brand’s Underpainting Palette and Le Skin Weightless Serum Foundation created a dewy and poreless canvas, while Pocket Blush in Piggy, the Peptide Lip Shape in Lean and Phillips’s Lip Ciggy in Tickled Pink brought the look together.
It’s also a change Bieber has been building towards slowly. Last year, she responded to fans in her TikTok comments to say she was “not [making] any big hair decisions postpartum” and was taking a year off from cutting her hair. Since then, she’s largely allowed it to grow out, save for smaller refinements and temporary switches in styling.
The extension element is worth noting, too. Once employed for red-carpet transformations for some ultra-glamorous lengths, extensions are increasingly becoming an everyday styling tool as a way to add density, movement or just a few extra inches without fundamentally changing a cut. Bieber used them for her Coachella look; Selena Gomez appears to have recently called on them to extend her lob; and Valles has long added volume and length for Dua Lipa, Kim Kardashian, and the Jenner sisters.
That tracks with the broader hair mood of 2026, which has shifted toward polish with a more personalised finish. “There’s less emphasis on hair looking overly ‘done’ and more focus on movement, natural texture and small details that make a style feel individual,” De León previously told Vogue. Bieber’s new layers check all of those boxes, while her colour lands squarely within another dominant beauty mood: richer, lustrous brunettes. “Look to coffee mocha and rich espresso shades,” colorist John Clark has said. “They sit perfectly in the middle – neither warm nor icy in tone.”
Bieber’s latest hair change may be the darkest she has gone in years, but it doesn’t feel severe. With all that length and softness around the face, it’s the kind of seasonal switch that still looks entirely like Hailey Bieber.
