Two decades since it was born, The Row has its ultra-discerning client down to a (cashmere) t. She’s the embodiment of the stealth-wealth dresser, revelling in sumptuous fabrications, pared-back design details and absolutely zero logos. She’s obsessed with the perfect biscuit shade of a cashmere crew-neck sweater and barely breaks a sweat over spending £640 on a white scoop-neck tank top. In fact, she’ll take 10.

Until the brand’s spring/summer 2027 show, which, dare we say it, saw The Row woman coming undone. Less faultless, more flaw-celebrating, the collection saw an antique table linen tied as a scarf over a trench coat, a piece of floral jacquard ribbon knotted around the waistband of loose tailored trousers, a transparent T-shirt popped over a visible triangular bikini. “In a shouty, confusing and over-complicated fashion world, it speaks to women in a calming voice: it’s okay not to be overdone, not to try too hard, and to simply value the things you like,” wrote Runway’s Sarah Mower in her review of the show.

This memento-focused take – which felt centred around heirlooms amassed from different parts of the globe over time, rather than pared-back investment pieces ordered in bulk each shopping season – also extended to the show’s jewellery. This included crafty strings of coloured beads, medallions on long chains and chunky collar necklaces, which were layered underneath the neckline of a white sun dress with frayed edges, a sheer vest top and a shawl-collar blouse, like precious peekaboo treasures. The conceal-and-reveal styling approach, which showed subtle hints at the jewellery worn on the body, decreed that The Row woman is keeping her jewellery close to her chest, dressing more for herself than to be seen by others.

Your A-list poster girls for spring/summer 2027’s peekaboo styling approach are The Row stans Jennifer Lawrence and Zoë Kravitz, who incorporate their favourite pieces from the brand, from the Beyza trenchcoat to the striped Barn Tote bag, with thrift store finds. Last week, Lawrence was seen in a typically eclectic look in Manhattan, featuring a chartreuse velvet coat, a button-up cardigan and a Mickey Mouse T-shirt with strings of golden necklaces folded between her autumnal layers. Kravitz, too, is often seen wearing a diamond tennis necklace, courtesy of London-based jewellery Jessica McCormack, poking enticingly from beneath the neckline of a white shirt.

Whether you’re lusting after the vivid chrysoprase beads of a Jia Jia necklace, multiple medallion pendants by Foundrae or strings of chunky turquoise by Marla Aaron, the stealth-wealth take on how to style your jewellery for the new season is when you can barely see it at all.
