The warmth and allure of a red lip taps into all the best parts of autumn: crimson leaves… a cheeky glass of merlot… a roaring fire. At the Chanel show in Paris on 5 October, star Alexa Demie put her own spin on a seasonal beauty classic.
Rather than opting for one monochromatic shade, Demie lined her lips in a deep burgundy, fading it into a scarlet centre to create an ombré effect. Popping a gloss overtop, her final lip look chimed nicely with her quilted jacket’s garnet detailing. The actor kept the rest of her make-up minimal, just a subtle smoked out liner and her signature thin ’90s brows.
Known for her prowess when it comes to glam – her mum was a make-up artist, after all – beauty is practically in Demie’s DNA. “There are pictures of me where I’m five years old putting lipstick on in front of the mirror. I feel like I was born ready for beauty,” she previously told of her relationship with make-up. “For me, it was about becoming different characters, that thing of transforming and being a chameleon. It’s fantasy and an escape from reality, being able to live these other lives.”

Demie has certainly never been one to shy away from experimenting with her look. And her character Maddy Perez’s gem-encrusted eyes had us in a chokehold all the way back in 2019. And where better to breathe fresh life into an existing make-up classic, than at Matthieu Blazy’s Chanel?
