Inside And Lily Allen’s Dinner With Calzedonia
“It’s a confidence thing,” says Lily Allen on the subject of great style. “It’s a cliché, but I think you can tell if someone is comfortable, or if they’re trying to emulate something else.” The exceptionally well-stockinged crowd who joined the musician and British at London’s storied Arlington restaurant last night, to celebrate her collaboration with Calzedonia, offered ample proof of that.
A peek beneath the custom tablecloths – appliquéd by Sow Studio using lace from Allen’s edit – revealed several of her designs, from rhinestone-studded shimmer lace tights to glitter tulle and rose floral lace styles. Among those putting them through their paces were contributors Olivia Singer (Allen’s co-host for the evening), Julia Hobbs and Julia Sarr-Jamois; designers Georgiana Huddart, Marco Capaldo and Supriya Lele; and musicians Jade, Sasha Keable, Ayra Starr, Nia Smith and Paris Jackson.
Over seared scallops with harissa butter, fillet of beef au poivre and crème brûlée, guests dissected the latest spring/summer 2027 shows, Frieze week and, of course, the merits of a good pair of tights, before heading into the night, suitably fortified. “We’re getting into party season,” says Allen. Her advice? “It’s all about confidence, and comfort.”
