On my way into work this morning, I spotted the first fashion week attendees arriving in London, easy to recognise in their everything-but-the-kitchen-sink outfits. Every September, casual summer dressing gives way to all-out across New York, London, Milan and Paris, as people pull out all the stops in the hope of catching a street-style photographer’s eye.
But if wearing, say, a pinafore over trousers with a shirt, three ties, velour platforms and a feathered fascinator isn’t your jam, there are other ways to score style points. Take Jennifer Lawrence, who, despite having access to the most avant-garde creations an illustrious IMDb page can afford, was photographed strolling around New York yesterday afternoon, forgoing anything “conversation-starting” in favour of a graphic jumper, distressed jeans and clogs.

J-Law is, of course, known for her laid-back approach to street style, more often than not spotted in well-worn T-shirts and trackpants accessorised with some sort of rarefied handbag. True to form, her latest look nails that cool, casual, anti-A-lister aesthetic, albeit with an Hermès Lindy slung over her shoulder. She is an Oscar-winning actress, after all.
