With so much fashion to choose from online, there’s something refreshing about trying on pieces in-store. Enter Just Browsing, a series taking you into the changing room as we preview the latest collections from some of our favourite designer brands. We’ll get into fabric and quality, fit and feel, and so much more as we make our way through the shop floor. Happy scrolling!

Cos has been a go-to brand of mine for many years. Having worked at for over a decade, I’ve always been within a half-mile radius of its Regent Street store, which I’ve visited both in times of need – when I’ve been desperately searching for a last-minute outfit (often, with success!) – and when I’ve had time to browse everything it has to offer. I’ve enjoyed snapping many mirror selfies in its changing rooms over the years.

When I was asked to preview the new autumn/winter 2026 collection, I was more than delighted to try on pieces from the comfort of the Cos store. The brand has long been known for its slight tweaks on familiar wardrobe heroes; be it a scarf detail on a jacket or a pop-up collar on a herringbone coat that can be worn down or as a funnel neck. I was particularly drawn to the texture combinations and interesting silhouettes that the design team spotlighted for the season.

As a self-confessed trouser obsessive, I was also thrilled to see the new range of shapes presented for autumn/winter 2026, including a versatile black wide-leg pair that are the perfect work trouser (I’ve sized up two sizes to give them a more relaxed proportion), and a straight-leg style made from corduroy.

I tend to only wear trousers, however, when browsing the store, the latest Cos drop convinced me to try a pleated kilt-like skirt – a shape I wouldn’t often see myself wearing. But I loved the preppiness of the silhouette and leant into the scholarly mood with a belt, a layered red shirt under a V-neck jumper (to the uninitiated, Cos knits are a standout) and flat riding boots.

As you can tell, the collection offers plenty to indulge in for autumn. Scroll on to see my favourites for autumn and beyond.

The foundations

Life has become very busy recently, juggling work, childcare, home and a social life, so I’m starting to see the benefit of a set uniform – an outfit I can throw on at a moment’s notice. I love the simplicity of this black V-neck paired with wide-leg tailored trousers and a really good leather belt. Top styling tip – I went up two sizes on the trousers, which makes them look even more elevated.

It’s been hard to pinpoint one favourite coat from the new collection, so I’m recommending three! There’s a fresh take on a tailored black coat, featuring tux-like lapels that you can pop up into a funnel neck; a super elegant, biscuit-coloured jacket with a draped scarf detail; and a gentlemanly herringbone coat that makes me nostalgic for one my grandad used to wear for his Sunday best.

The skirt of the season

If the spring/summer 2027 runways are anything to go by, we’re about to enter our skirt era. I can’t believe that I currently only have one in my wardrobe – a ’90s-inspired black column maxi – but Cos’s pleated kilt might just convince me to invest in a second. When I tried it on, I went two sizes up so I can wear low on my hips. Styling-wise, I paired it with a V-neck jumper, a red shirt peeping beneath and a flat riding boot.

The tailoring

Tailoring is a well-loved Cos signature that makes regular appearances in the office. I have plenty in my wardrobe already, which I put to especially good use during the autumn and winter months. This season, I’m gravitating towards this double-breasted blazer, which is cut with relaxed proportions.

The easy weekend look

I live in jeans day in, day out, whether I’m in the office or running errands at the weekend. Great denim is always a north star for me, but this autumn, I’ve found that straight-leg cords bring the same easy energy; infused with preppiness. I’ll be styling them with my trusty long-sleeved white top layered under a bold red tee.
