When I think of Kate Moss (which is often in this job), there are a few legendary looks that spring to mind. Some days, it’s the shaggy coat she wore to her 33rd birthday party; on others, it’s the Corinne Day-shot tank top and knickers; or, most recently, the Hermès Kelly and a useless belt she sported on a beach getaway – essentials for a day out at the seaside, obviously. Nowhere in this canon does colour feature particularly prominently, which is why her most recent look stopped me in my tracks mid-scroll. Could that be… Kate in turquoise?!
Leaving The Ritz for Dior’s spring/summer 2027 show this afternoon, she hung up her leopard print and leather for something a little more prim and proper, opting for a bright turquoise tea dress and matching belt. It was the sort of look I’d usually associate with an ‘adventurous’ Upper East Sider circa the golden era of 2005, rather than someone who spent the early noughties dating Pete Doherty.

At this point in her career, it’s safe to say Kate has seen her fair share of fashion weeks, whether perched on the frow or taking to the runway, with her recent repertoire staying true to the ’90s principles of slinky slip dresses, Saint Laurent and Tom Ford tailoring. So who’s to say she shouldn’t change it up a little? Despite the initial surprise at seeing the patron saint of indie sleaze dressed in turquoise, she did, after all, stay true to herself in a pair of Kate Moss classics, grounding Jonathan Anderson’s Dior design with a pair of knee-high leather boots in true 2000s It-girl style.
