If you’ve ever fought your way across the concourse at during rush hour, we’ve got news that may have you rubbing your eyes in disbelief. The City of London transport hub – which has also been the busiest station in the UK for three years in a row – has just been crowned the best train station in the country.

Research from TrainPal analysed 210 transport hubs nationwide, judging stations based on factors including performance, reputation, food and drink options, nearby amenities and consumer feedback. The ticket platform then gave each station a score out of 100. 

Liverpool Street scored a whopping 91.65 overall – 0.2 points ahead of Glasgow Central in second place. 

TrainPal’s ranking awarded Liverpool Street 96.40 for station experience, looking at accessibility, facilities and connectivity. It also boasted a 98.20 rating for nearby food and drink, which was the second highest score of any station in the country. 

The Big Smoke also dominated the rest of the ranking, claiming four of the top 10 spots. Victoria came in fifth overall (89.02), Charing Cross took sixth (88.23) and King’s Cross rounded out the capital’s entries in seventh (88.05).
