The term “swag gap” gets thrown around a lot these days: a snappy phrase to describe the sometimes yawning chasm between the aesthetic inclinations of two celebrities in love. It can happen in ordinary life, too: like when your Comme des Garçons-wearing BFF gets a new boyfriend who thinks socks and sandals are acceptable at the pub. Every so often though, a new couple emerges to make clear that they’re a perfect match sartorially, as well as romantically. Relatively new flames Kendall Jenner and Jacob Elordi are proof that you should ideally always date someone who dresses as well (and looks as good) as you do.
The pair were first spotted “snogging at Coachella” in May, then made it Instagram official in June in the manner that has become traditional for the aspirational thirtysomething in 2026: snaps from a trip to Japan. Early glimpses of the couple found them doing relaxed, A-lister off-duty style: jeans, T-shirts and trench coats. When Tokyo pizzeria Seirinkan shared photos of the pair’s visit (Kendall carrying The Row’s Park Tote and Jacob in a JFK Jr-esque backwards cap), the comments were all love: “they are so aesthetically pleasing together” and, “I love when tall people date each other.”

Since then, the pair have been papped numerous times in variations on the same pared-back theme. Where Kendall’s sister Kylie and boyfriend Timothée Chalamet favour a more colourful approach to duo dressing (we won’t be forgetting those tangerine looks in a hurry), Kendall and Jacob are committed to muted shades and low-key but unmistakably expensive accessories. Case in point: a midweek dinner at Cipriani in London, for which both wore jeans and a white T-shirt, with Jacob adding a green windbreaker in true softboi style and Kendall a cobalt-blue shirt, accessorised with Chanel’s Maxi Rabat bag.

A dressier moment in Paris in September found Kendall in a Miu Miu autumn/winter 1997 mini and pumps (from The Row obviously), while Jacob kept it classic as her dashing date. Then, at the Academy Museum Gala last month, Kendall wore a polka-dot Valentino gown and Jacob wore custom Bottega Veneta with Cartier jewellery. More recently, they ticked off another relationship milestone: the couple’s Halloween costume. Taking the Letterboxd approach, they dressed as characters from , with Kendall in a platinum bob and hot-pink mohair dress and a (beardless) Jacob in a red trucker hat.

All of this is leading up to the moment that will prove the true test for Kendall and Jacob’s couple style: their first joint red carpet. And awards season isn’t far away…
