Zara has embarked upon a series of big-name partnerships of late – Willy Chavarria and Kate Moss, among them. Collaborating with Caramel, a UK-based label that spotlights kidswear but also spans womenswear and homeware, is a pivot away from the obvious players in the fashion industry. “I wanted the collection to carry that Caramel language: simple shapes made special through proportion, detail and colour,” founder Eva Karayiannis, who started Caramel in 1999, told of the first Zara union, which dropped back in June.

The second chapter builds on the success of that initial collection, but this time with a distinctly autumnal sensibility. Cinnamon corduroy, mustard florals, deep aubergine and chunky chocolate knits are punctuated by flashes of red, while soft checks and stripes bring a touch of pattern to the mix. “It’s not a cacophony of colour,” says Karayiannis, of the new collection. “They all work together, but with a little bit of quirk to them.”
Naturally, outerwear and knitwear are the focus this time around. For children, there are coats in deep navy for girls and babies, a dark green option for boys, as well as a Fair Isle jumper, tactile waffle-knit separates and classic ribbed styles. The emphasis is on layering, with pieces designed to work just as well together as they do independently.
Alongside the childrenswear sits a compact womenswear capsule that follows the same design philosophy. A collarless corduroy jacket in rich brown is paired with a striped collared shirt, while an inky midi-dress offers a more pared-back alternative. Elsewhere, a long navy coat, finished with a rope belt, is styled with orangey-red corduroy trousers.
Whether you’re shopping for a hard-working new coat, a knit to see you (and your little ones) through the colder months or a few pieces to bring a little personality to your daily rotation, the latest Zara X Caramel collection offers a take on autumn style for the whole family. And if the last launch is anything to go by, it’ll likely be one that sells out fast.
