Last week, Sienna Miller ditched her usual billowing silhouettes for a cinched, feathered gown courtesy of Dilara Findikoglu at the London premiere of her new HBO drama, War. Miller briefly passed the boho style baton to her 14-year-old daughter, Marlowe, who carried the Chloé Paddington bag her mum helped to make famous in the Noughties. At another screening on Tuesday night, Miller delivered still more plumage, stepping out in an Erdem minidress that debuted on the runway at London Fashion Week just two days earlier.
The ostrich feather furbelows that floated from evening dresses in Erdem’s spring/summer 2027 collection, unveiled at the Roundhouse in Camden over the weekend, were inspired by Man Ray’s photographs of the American trapeze artist Barbette. Which perhaps makes the collection an appropriate choice for Miller, who has been executing something of a high wire act herself of late: managing to navigate caring for a newborn (she welcomed her third child in May) while fulfilling work commitments in her customary killer wardrobe.
The star recently spoke to British about struggling with post-natal style. “You’re just ‘mother’... and not in the Gen-Z way, as much as I would like to be,” she said. But if this latest look is anything to go by, or perhaps the cult Conner Ives opera coat she wore to the Serpentine Summer Party in June, or the Colleen Allen dress she wore on the month prior, Miller’s style icon status is in no way under threat.
