During the fitting process for her runway shows, Talia Byre often collects vintage shoes and boots to style with her seasonal looks. Pre-loved, satisfyingly weathered footwear has grounded her signature striped rugby shirts, wrap dresses and warm-up trousers since the beginning.

Vintage shoes are always her preference, but last season, Byre called upon Ugg to provide a plethora of styles – including shearling-trimmed flats, lace-up boots and her own studded take on the classic suede mid-height boot – for models to wear on the runway. This time around, she has joined forces with Topshop for spring/summer 2027.

Wearability is essential for Talia and her studio team, so when the label approached her about a collaboration – the full line-up of which will be revealed this autumn – she was keen to create something she would legitimately wear day to day. The result: nostalgic wedge-heel boots with brogue trims on the toes and uppers that can be folded down to allow for multiple styling options, and backless lace-up brogues in Tippex-white and black.

“I wanted to make sure they are comfortable,” she explained ahead of her show at the Hellenic Centre at London Fashion Week. “We’re not massive heel wearers in the studio, so it was important to design a shoe we wanted to wear all the time.”

On the runway, the boots were styled with her new halter-neck dresses and her hero trouser shape of the season: a low-rise, airbrush-tight flare. The brogues from the partnership accompanied dresses, as well as said “major” trousers and cargo miniskirts worn with a new custom-striped long-sleeved top (a fresh take on her signature, which is a well-loved staple among the editors). Both new shoe styles look right at home in Talia’s line-up.
