Ever since Miu Miu ushered in biker boots for autumn/winter 2022, with big, buckle-smothered stompers paired with leather trousers and see-through lace slips, the rugged boot has become something of a fashion-week fixture. The house returned to the style for its autumn/winter 2024 collection, this time styling its chunky bikers with cotton midi-skirts, oversized shirting and slick leather gloves.
After Miu Miu came Chloé’s Dakota for autumn/winter 2025, a slightly more elevated, heeled take on the silhouette that felt, in every way, like the perfect boot for the 2000s Chloé girl. Others, including McQueen, Coach, Burberry, and Versace, have offered their own interpretations over the past few seasons, ranging from pared-back leather styles to hardware-heavy designs.

Much like their counterparts – the cowboy boot, Chelsea boot, and even the kitten heel – biker boots seem to trot back down the runway each season in a new iteration, or turn up on the feet of the best-dressed visitors flocking to the shows. Of course, their appeal is easy to understand: they are some of the sturdiest of winter boots, but also feel a bit more intentional than plainer styles.
When it comes to sourcing the best biker boots, you don’t necessarily need to drop a million pounds. That said, given that a good pair of leather boots can last for years, investing a little more than you might usually is often worthwhile. “Vintage and resale sites are rife with worn-in styles, but there are also plenty of new-season versions around if you’re looking to invest,” wrote ’s Joy Montgomery “A few key things to keep in mind when shopping for biker boots: check the height of the upper to work out where it’ll come up to on your leg and try different sizes before choosing a final pair – don’t hesitate to ask sellers on sites like eBay for more information on sizing.”
There’s also plenty of room to experiment with styling. While summer has seen biker boots paired with lace-trimmed skirts and nightie dresses, in the colder months they look great with slouchy jeans and vintage leathers, tartan skirts and trench coats.
And while the classic biker tends to come with buckles, straps and hardware, there are more pared-back options if you prefer something a little quieter. Look for a knee-high leather boot with a low heel and a single buckle, or opt for an ankle-height, worn-in pair if you want to lean into the grunge aesthetic.
