Miuccia Prada and Raf Simons went all out on skirts for Prada’s spring/summer 2027 collection. In fact, there wasn’t a single pair of jeans – just pleated skirts secured with crystallised velcro, high-craft beaded creations and mesh overlays with florals peeking through. Miu Miu, however, told a different story, with its spring runway offering a preview of a denim collaboration with Wrangler – the next chapter of the Miu Miu Upcycled initiative first introduced in 2020.

The “cowboy-cut”, slim-legged styles were “carefully sourced by vintage specialists around the world”, and deconstructed then reconstructed to create something “entirely new”. Said jeans arrived with zig-zagged paracord in place of conventional fly zips – a fresh take on the shoelace belts, inspired by Noughties skaters, that have captivated Gen Z of late.
It marked a new exploration of the colourful cord that has been a recurring motif on the Miu Miu runways in recent years, formerly brought to life as viral rope sandals, tied drawstring closures on surfer shorts and the laces of trainers from Ms. Prada’s New Balance collaborations, the latest iteration of which also debuted for spring/summer 2027.

Now in its fifth release, Miu Miu’s spring/summer New Balance link-up plucked the RC150 trainer from the sports brand’s archive. Originally released in the late ’90s as a performance road-racing trainer, it was a feat of engineering, weighing just 150 grams. True to previous New Balance outings, Miu Miu “disrupted” the RC150 design, realising its profile in technical mesh with criss-cross embroidery on the upper, grounded by an UltraLight sole. And in line with the rest of the Miu Miu collection, colourways spanned burgundy/navy, tan/navy, blue/yellow, tomato red/orange and green/yellow.
Anyone keen to sport the offbeat Wrangler jeans will have to wait until the official drop in 2027 – so, too, those wanting to get their hands on the New Balance trainers. In the meantime, avid shoppers could attempt to find a rare vintage pair of RC150s, or invest in the remaining stock of previous styles.
