Front rows can reveal a lot. A linear who’s who of the industry, from press to buyers, content creators to talent, the “FROWS” – as they’re colloquially known – are a snapshot of what people are endorsing for the season, be it Matthieu Blazy’s paintbox-bright Chanel heels, Alaïa’s skinny Le Teckel bag or vintage camo trousers. Attendees at London Fashion Week this season were fiercely loyal to loafers.
Saint Laurent’s perfectly-scrunched Le Loafers were seen both tucked under the benches and peddling the pavements outside show venues, rendered in textured or woven leather and supple suede. “Chunky” silhouettes like Prada’s monolith were favoured by multiple guests, but slimline profiles were ubiquitous. To this point: Gucci’s famously streamlined, horsebit-adorned Jordans remained a firm favourite among the fashion crowd. Colour-wise, biscuit tones were clearly a preference – from toffee-hued moccasins to chocolate boat shoes – as well as classic black and two-tone styles.

Styling was varied. While wearing skirts or dresses with loafers and a scholarly white sock has been popular in recent seasons, the majority of Londoners wore theirs with trousers or slouchy jeans that puddled at the hemlines (as seen below).
