In surprising news from the spiritual home of Jane Birkin bangs, the It-girls at Paris Fashion Week are heralding the return of a hair trend that obscures a fringe entirely: the zig-zag headband. Need proof? Look no further than the Miu Miu show, where Gigi Hadid, Becky Armstrong and Ella Bright all put their own spin on the budget hair accessory that enjoyed booming popularity back in the 1990s.

Keeping her own accessory closer to her hairline, star Bright opted for slighty beachier waves. Supermodel Gigi got in on the action, too, after strutting down the star-studded Miu Miu runway (along with Olivia Colman, Emma Corrin, and star Noah Jupe), she departed the venue after the show with her blonde mane scraped back with a spring tortoiseshell headband.

This sort of headband was key to Miu Miu’s autumn/winter 2026 show, where hairstylist Guido Palau fixed them into spiky pixies and used them to further tame greased-back hair. A favourite in the ’90s and Noughties, with fans including David Beckham and the Spice Girls, it was a fitting accessory for a runway packed with looks that winked to Miu Miu’s early days. But this was clearly no flash-in-the-pan runway moment, besides the flurry of zig-zag bands in Paris over the weekend, other recent high-profile fans include Hailey Bieber, Bella Hadid and Alexa Demie.
