Three major west London bus routes could be changed – with one axed entirely

London’s bus routes get chopped and changed fairly regularly. In January six busy routes were switched up, in March another 13 were made shorter and in July TfL announced that two north London services could get the axe. As often as it happens, it’s still devastating when your own local service gets rerouted, or worse, cut completely.

We hate to break it to you, west and southwest Londoners, but your regular route could be next. TfL is proposing a restructure to bus routes , 74 and 430. Before it makes any final decisions on the routes, TfL is inviting the public to have their say in a consultation, which will be live until Monday November 16.

It says that the plans would ‘simplify routes in central and inner London, running a smaller number of higher frequency, more reliable routes’. Here’s what you need to know about the proposed changes.

Under TfL’s plans, the C3 between Clapham Junction Station and Warwick Road Tesco in Earl’s Court would be completely cut.

The 74 would be restructured to continue to provide a service along the C3 route. It would travel between Baker Street and Clapham Junction and the section between Putney and Earl’s Court would be removed. TfL says it would also increase the 74’s frequency, running every 12 minutes on Sunday mornings instead of every 20 minutes. The N74 would stay the same.

The 430 between the V&A South Kensington and Minstead Gardens in Roehampton wouldn’t be axed or shortened – TfL simply wants to make it more frequent. It hopes to run the service every 12 minutes on all days of the week.

Did you see that London’s busiest train station has been crowned the UK’s best rail hub for 2026?
