While promoting her 2025 Netflix documentary, which charted her journey from Spice Girl to WAG to bona fide fashion designer, Victoria Beckham took a moment to address her youngest son, then at the beginning of his own music career. “One hundred million albums, Cruz – let’s not forget that. Spice up your life!” she said, on Alex Cooper’s podcast, flashing a peace sign. “I can be on backing vocals…”

And she sort of was this weekend, ensconced at the side of the stage as his band, Cruz Beckham and The Breakers, performed at Reading Festival. It was an unusual place to spot VB in the wild, given she is more accustomed to the festivals of, say, Cannes or Venice – and her outfit said as much. There was no Amazon rain poncho, nor any visible sign of Wellington boots, just tinted aviators and an olive-green T-shirt tucked into high-waisted black jeans. It was, in fact, a near-reprise of her appearance in the wings at Live 8 in Hyde Park back in 2005: the same fitted top, of-the-era jeans and husband David’s embrace once again serving as outerwear. That might sound like conjecture, but Victoria’s wardrobe has always tended towards repetition – see: her Posh-era LBDs, her WAG-era white jeans or the ribcage-grazing trousers and rollnecks she now rotates at Paris Fashion Week. Her children, however, seemed more willing to lean into the ready-for-rain festival look: Cruz in patch-embroidered double denim, Romeo in a camo tracksuit, and Harper in what appeared to be a Victoria Beckham X Gap parka and Hunter wellies. The photographs stopped short of revealing what footwear VB employed to traverse the mud, but, let’s face it, she was probably wearing these.
